"I have engaged Sense of Space to create a new, highly bespoke, modern residential property. Richard Addenbrook employs a small team of energetic and talented, young architects with whom he works in a very effective collaborative style. They have demonstrated the ability to listen and interpret, applying a combination of imagination, professional skill, attention to detail and sound practical sense which includes dealing with planners and builders. I trust them and have real peace of mind. Brilliant."

Refurbishment of large Victorian house

Ilkley for private client

A full refurbishment of a large Victorian villa including a conversion of the existing basement, new garage and extensive external landscaping at the rear.  Internally, full alterations were carried out across four floors of accommodation, some of which required significant structural alterations in order to allow the internal spaces to flow.

Arts and Crafts luxury family home

Ilkley for private client

New arts and crafts style luxury family home overlooking the wharfe valley.  Designed to sit into the landscape and utilise the roofspace minimising the overall massing of the property.

New eco-friendly dwelling

green belt, Ilkley

This challenging project comprised the demolition of an existing dwelling & lodge within the green belt to be replaced by a unique, low-carbon house of approximately 450sqm in floor area, being the first significant Code 5 dwelling for a private client. The Code for Sustainable Homes required an integrated approach to achieve a high level of sustainability.

"With a listed property that dated back to the 1400’s it was essential that our extension/modernisation was in keeping and yet we wanted to have all the benefits of modern living such as technology and open spaces.  SoS achieved this mix in the design and also managed a difficult build process, as with any old property there were many unexpected issues to deal with along the way."
